Who is it for?

It is for juniors in our Orange, Green and Yellow ball programs whose coach recommends is “ready” to take the next step into our match play program.

Why should I join Matchplay?

Because Playing Tennis Matches is FUN & makes you a better tennis player. In Matchplay you get to play matches against players of a similar age/skill level & get better at the sport by using the skills and tactics you learn during your lessons in a safe, caring, and friendly space.

What will I learn?

You will learn how to play matches as well as how to score, umpire & ball person correctly. It is through Matchplay that we prepare our juniors to represent Pure Tennis in interclub fixtures and tournaments in a manner we can all be proud of.

A key learning taught through our Matchplay program is the Pure SPIRIT incorporating Tennis etiquette and Sportsmanship values: Sportsmanship/Perseverance/Integrity/Respect/Inspiration/Take Responsibility

How is it run?

Participants get to play approx. 2 matches as well as umpire/ball person a match each week, so they are engaged in learning all the important aspects of playing the game of tennis.
Our Fixtures Coordinator prepares the draw, supervises the players and collates the scores each week. We offer 2 seasons each year as follows: Summer season Term 4 and Term 1 / Winter season Term 2 and Term 3. (N.B Players can join at any time subject to availability).

How do I know how I am going?

Players Rankings are published weekly on our Matchplay notice board.

Is there a Finals Day?

At the end of the Season, we put on a really special Final’s day for all the players & their families.
Families are invited to come and support their child playing in either the singles or doubles semi’s & finals. Semi Final & Finals matches are Umpired by handpicked volunteers. The Winner and Runner Up of each playing group as well as The Pure Spirit Player of the Season is awarded at a Trophy Presentation conducted at the completion of the Finals event.

If your child enjoys competition and loves their tennis we highly recommend they progress through the Futures Coaching Pathway when your coach advises they are ready!
